iPhone vs Android vs Blackberry. A Google trends analysis
Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 5:23PM As it is informed by TechCrunch in the post called comScore: Android Continues Assault On RIM, Apple, it seems that Android market share continues to grow at a higher pace than its competitors.
When I was reading the post, I thought that it could be a good idea to take a look at Google Trends, and compare the performance of these three brands.

Looking at this Google Trends graphic you can observe the following facts:
- The searches of the three platforms combined show that the interest of people in smartphones is growing very fast.
- The interest in the iPhone is growing faster than Android and Blackberry combined.
- All the peaks in iPhone searches happen during the yearly product launch. After the launch they go down, but they stabilize at a much higher level than before the launch.
- Despite the antenna problems and the still absent white version, iPhone 4 has shown a much better performance than the previous versions, and so far, it shows the same pattern than the previous versions, but in a much higher level.
- The interest in Blackberry has been stable during all year and only started to grow with the rumors of the new Blackberry Torch. Then it made a peak during the launch and now it seems to be following the same pattern than the iPhone, showing a stability but in a higher level.
- The interest in Android has grown, but it does not show the peaks that iPhone shows when new phones are released.
- Since RIM launched the Torch the interest in Android has been stable.
Based on these observations I have reached the following conclusions:
- If iPhone would cost less than $100 and it would be available in more carriers, it would simply be unstoppable. People want it.
- Android is growing in sales at a higher pace than iPhone and Blackberry, however the interest in the OS is lower than in the others. From my point of view, this is because most normal consumers buy Android phones without knowing what they buy. They have gone to the shop and have received an iPhone-like device, which looks cooler than a Blackberry, with a better carrier, lower price and with the Google stamp.
- Blackberry would do much better with better devices. You can see how they have shown a similar iPhone pattern in a lower scale.
- The interest in Android started to grow faster right when the interest in Blackberry stalled. On the other hand, the interest in Android stalled right when the interest in Blackberry started growing again. However none of these situations seem to affect the interest in the iPhone. Therefore, Android is a RIM killer, not an iPhone killer.
- If RIM would create an Android device, it would be a real success.
Are you reaching different conclusions from the graph? Your comments are more than welcome!

concerning with the post android phones have basically less consumers as compared to the i phones. Even though they have peaked during launched but after launch also their sales is much more higher the the android phones. If the user is aware about the android phones then only he is going to buy it. But if the user is new to the android phones than he won't have any demand or second thought for android phones. They will definitely switch to i Phones.
