More than two years ago, I read something in the news that confused me. Apple was the biggest company in the world, overtaking Exxon in its market value. I was wondering if the market was going crazy, because a company selling consumer electronics was more valuable than the biggest energy company in the world.

Some days later, I read in the news something even more confusing. Apple had even more cash available on its bank than the Government of the United States. How is it possible that a company like Apple has more cash than the richest Government in the world?
